JUI-F Central Vice President and the ex-MNA, Qari Abdul Bais Saddiqui died of heart attack here in Swat on Wednesday. He was 68. His funeral prayer was offered at the Grassy Ground, Mingora attended by several JUI-F central and provincial leaders and many representatives of other political parties.
Qari Abdul Bais Saddiqui was born in Shangla in 1944. However, he settled down in Swat in his young age for religious studies. He did Masters in Islamic Studies in 1985.
In the 2002-general elections, he contested on MMA ticket for MNA seat from NA-29 Swat against Adnan Aurangzeb (PML-Q) and defeated him by 65808 votes. He was also the pesh imam of Allah-u-Akbar Mosque, Saidu Sharif.
Fayaz Zafar who hails from Saidu Sharif, Swat is a renown and accredited journalist. In addition to serving as a reporter to "Voice of America, AAJ TV and Daily Mashriq," he also runs successfully zamaswat.com. During the Taliban era where the press was, to a greater degree, silent or showed some fig leaves to hide its nakedness, Fayaz Zafar, at a great risk to his life, was one among the very few who was vocal against the atrocities the Taliban were indulged-in. This earned Fayaz Zafar a high degree of repute as a conscientious journalist.
