Enraged residents of Shamozai demonstrate at Landakay against load shedding and low voltage

Thousands of enraged residents of Shamozai staged a demonstration at Landakay on Thursday by observing a sit-in on the GT road against the ruthless load shedding and low voltage. The demonstrators chanted slogans against the government and the Wapda.

“The ruthless load shedding has hurled the people of Swat into an abyss of darkness paralyzing life in the valley. The people are faced with acute water shortage. Even the mosques have no water for ablution,” said Parwanat Khan, Wilayat Khan and others while addressing the multitude of people. “The voltage remains at the lowest if power is restored at all for a short time,” they further added.
They warned that the protest would continue till the end of the unscheduled load shedding in the district.
Heavy police was deployed at the venue of the demonstration.
In the meanwhile, all type of traffic remained suspended for four hours on the Peshawar-Mingora road. The commuters had to face numerous hardships.
It is relevant to note that Landakay is the only entry point to Swat.
